Curriculum Vitae Highlights

Emilio López Zapata is the founder and Scientific Advisor of Tedial. Since launching the company ten years ago he has applied his vast experience in IT technology to the broadcast industry with particular focus on the fast management and processing of large video files.

In addition to his business career, Professor López Zapata is an active academic at the Málaga University in Spain, where he is Director of the Computer Architecture Department. He is also Director of the SCBI (Centre of Supercomputing and Bio innovation), which is part of the Spanish National Network of Supercomputers.

Below follow some of the highlights of his career:

Research Fields Specialisations: Application of specific computing architectures; automatic parallelisation; video and audio file processing; PDEs - mathematical modelling and numerical simulation; and bioinformatics.

Main Researcher in dozens Spanish and EU research projects and several research contracts within the private sector. 

Founder of Research Groups in computing architecture and IT technology in the following universities: Santiago de Compostela (1985, 15 doctors), Almería (1988, 13 doctors), A Coruña (1990, 7 doctors), Málaga (1991, 25 doctors) and Córdoba (1998, 2 doctors).

Director of over 30 doctoral theses in the following universities: Santiago de Compostela, A Coruña, Córdoba and Málaga.

Co-author of over 325 international publications in international journals and congresses.

Founding member of Helio Server a new (2009) company specialised in geographic information systems of solar radiation.
