Cool things we do

Apple FinalCutPro Integration
Slick integration between Tedial Tarsys and FCP, giving editors direct browse and retrieve access to Tarsys from their FCP workstations. Low-res files are immediately available for editing while high-res are being transferred. When the high-res is available, Tarsys automatically relinks the project to high-res without losing any of the work done in low-res.
Editors can archive newly created media directly from FCP workstations. Once sequences are completed, editors enter metadata; files are automatically sent to archive and Tarsys’ database is updated accordingly.
MPM’s enterprise-level integration platform
A middleware platform which allows multiple heterogeneous systems to integrate and communicate among themselves, even when key components of the overall system are changed or decommissioned. Tedial’s unique ESB (Enterprise Service Bus) is especially designed around the peculiarities of the broadcast industry.
MPM’s normalisation tools
Analysis tools scan all media files on-the-fly, checking them against specified SMPTE standards. MPM finds and automatically fixes minor syntactical file inconsistences, such as incorrect or missing metadata in headers and trailers, so often the source of unexpected incompatibility issues in tapeless environments. All media is checked for compliance with the customer’s corporate profile to ensure that file consistency and compatibility is always achieved.
AST’s intelligent partial restore
AST works differently to most data movers. It doesn’t constantly execute repeated individual restore commands. AST instead has a global view of clips and segments required by different operators and workflows and is able to ensure optimal prioritisation of partial restores in real time. For example, if two segments close to each other are already on disk and there is a request to retrieve a third segment located between these from the original asset, AST proceeds to restore only the ‘gap’ in the master file from the LTO tape while reusing the online segments to complete the requested third segment. This not only saves precious time, it also dramatically reduces tape mounting operations in the library.
With AST the concept of ‘near on line’ becomes obsolete
Harnessing Tarsys’ intelligence, AST continually and dynamically reprioritises the job list by taking in account not only workflows that are currently being executed but also those that are to be executed in the near future. This automatic file transferring ensures that media needed by Traffic and by workflows is always kept automatically ‘online’ on disk. The resulting instant media availability considerably increases operators’ efficiency ; they don’t have to waste time deciding what needs to be kept ‘online’ or waiting to retrieve clips needed for their scheduled tasks.
Ficus workflow optimisation
The powerful combination of Ficus & MPM performs all third-party integrations, media moving and file processing required by each of the workflow’s different steps. In other words, we ensure that all processes that can be automated are automated. This in turn allows operators to focus on the creative process they excel in, rather than wasting time doing mechanical and repetitive tasks. Ficus’ monitoring tools provide a general view of the workflows and their pending stages, flagging possible bottlenecks, and taking actions to improve the system’s performance and workload.
