TEDIAL announces major Televisa expansion.

Tedial, the leading provider of Media Asset Management (MAM), Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM) and Business Process Management (BPM) software has announced that Televisa, one of the largest media companies in the world, has expanded its existing Tedial content management system. This latest project will be focused in three key areas: the archiving of HD material; providing a back-up transmission system; and the management and distribution of regional commercials.

The first stage of the project is the extension of Televisa Canales’ MAM system for archiving HD material. This is important as it not only enables the archiving of media in an HD format but also automates the management of large HD files within the existing Televisa Tedial Tarsys MAM system, which includes the broadcaster’s complete production and transmission workflows.

To support HD material that is processed and moved around Televisa, Tedial will expand its Media Process Manager (MPM) system adding additional servers. Tedial’s Ficus BPM workflows will be configured to include specific steps required by the HD files in addition to the SD media tasks it already manages.

The second part of the expansion is the installation of a backup system in Santa Fe to support Televisa’s main tapeless system located in Chapultepec. This will provide full transmission backup for Televisa’s four main channels – Canal de las Estrellas, FOROtv, Canal 5 Reinventa and Galavisión - in the event of a system failure at the Chapultepec facility. This backup system, which will be built based on the latest version of Tedial’s Tarsys (MAM) and MPM, will include identical architecture and components to the system in Chapultepec.

The third element is the distribution of commercials to Televisa’s regional stations. Last year Tedial implemented a system to automate the process of commercial production and storage using its Ficus BPM via web portal access and monitoring of centralised commercials storage.

Televisa has now placed an order for the second part of the commercial distribution project. This implements the management of regional commercials directly, including distribution and file delivery, from the main repository in Chapultepec to the required regional television stations. Particularly notable is the system’s ability to make efficient use of high latency networks.

Armando Medina, Technical Director, Televisa explains, “We have a strong relationship with Tedial because the company has consistently demonstrated its outstanding support over the last six years. Its engineering team is always able to solve technological challenges and system integration problems that inevitably occur when a facility is constantly expanding. With Tedial we have total confidence in the reliability and performance of the system’s current functionalities and its ability to continually evolve.”

Rafael Dubois, Tedial’s Sales Director comments, “Televisa has been using Tedial’s technology for the past six years and has great confidence in the system and our team’s excellent engineering capabilities. This expansion project further highlights its trust in the reliability, scalability and competiveness of Tedial’s content management solutions. I am delighted to make this announcement.”
