Marca TV

Marca TV launches with Tedial asset management.

Leading publisher moves into television with strong workflow from market leader.
Marca, publisher of the leading sports newspaper in Spain, has launched a dedicated television channel in association with Mediatem, part of the Mediapro Group. Central to the delivery of the new channel, which went on air at the end of August 2010, is a digital asset management platform from Tedial.

The production and playout of Marca TV is split across two sites, in Barcelona and Madrid. Most content is ingested in Barcelona, where programming is prepared and planned, with final playout from Madrid. Content is managed and synchronised between the two sites by the Tedial Tarsys asset management system.

Each site has an archive, which provides security and disaster recovery as well as making all content available to all staff. The Tedial AST software provides hierarchical storage management across the online servers and nearline archives. Tedial Media Process Manager provides storage optimisation as well as the synchronisation.

“Tedial’s technology is the best choice when you need a completely reliable solution,” said Enrique Navas of Mediatem. “They could demonstrate to us how their technology worked successfully for major broadcasters around the world, and show that, as well as being reliable, it helps increase productivity and optimise our resources.”

“We were very pleased to work with Marca, Mediatem and its system integrator Unitecnic to get this new television station on air quickly,” said José Mesas, managing director of Tedial. “It reinforces our position as broadcast sector reference in Spain and beyond. The unique functionality of the Tedial solution and robust technology means that more than 30 television broadcasters have now entrusted their digital archives to us.”
