TEDIAL own technology collaborates with modernizing and automation of CMT channel.
After a five-year path together, CMT and TEDIAL are still working for modernization and automation of the TV channel, incorporating the last technologies and digital contents production trends. In addition of actualizing hardware and software at Toledo’s installation, TEDIAL includes new media and metadata flows to content production, based on Avid iNews and Unity.
The expansion consists on different areas; and involves a total change in technical infrastructure and standardization of the media formats in use. The technology of TEDIAL for creation and monitoring of media flows (MPM Media Process Manager) automates the exchange of media and metadata between editorial office and digital archive. MPM imports, from iNews, news´ associated texts, and the previous cataloguing (locators and complementary metadata) in Interplay. That is how TEDIAL contributes improving CMT production, still using the whole documentation work from editorial office.
The technology of TEDIAL, which manages media flows, has allowed the automatic conversion of the archived material from DV25-Airspace format, more than 30.000 hour of video, to the standard format ISO-378M-2004 (DV25-MXF OP-1A). This process of re-encapsulating media, with no encoding, is monitored by MPM, and does not affect the flows production and broadcast sending. MPM uses the library for automatic analysis and media transformation, INDEXER, by TEDIAL. Apart from classic operations like storyboard creation and media indexing, INEXER includes encoding functions, format normalization and automatic re-encapsulating of media.
The actualization of software made by TEDIAL includes the latest technologies of content management and storage. TARSYS Cluster, the content manager of TEDIAL, is a highly available, scalable and redundant architecture, with dynamic load balancing and tolerance to component failures. Distributed AST permits the partial recovering of video fragments. AST, HSM system (Hierarchical Storage Manager) by TEDIAL, applies intelligent politic to the automatic migration discs-tape library and balances input and output flows to SAN storage system dynamically, maximizing the available bandwidth.
Finally, this process of software actualization by TEDIAL at CMT also includes the last technologies of high capability tapes, SAIT –2, and video servers K2, generating new work flows that automate the exchange of media and metadata between different components of the production line.
CMT (Castilla - La Mancha Television) is the regional channel of Castilla – La Mancha, which is broadcasted from December of 2001. Nowadays, it has a 24 hours channel, and prepares the launch of new TDT channels in 2008: This fact, along with the obvious technological evolution of a young channel as CMT, makes unavoidable the modernization process.
