TELESUR incorporates TEDIAL´s technology to implant the tapeless model in television.

TELESUR (Venezuela) and TEDIAL have signed a contract of technological collaboration to implant the digital model of daily news production and programmes in the installations at Caracas. TEDIAL´s technology for content management (TARSYS) allows implanting the tape-less models in television, being integrated all servers and systems which are involved in ingesting, production and digital broadcasting processes. TARSYS is integrated in the editorial office of TELESUR, consisting of iNews and Final Cut/ XSAN, by Apple, bringing two essential requirements to the solution: Highly available and scalable. Moreover, this system includes indexing and cataloguing tools for an easier and faster access to audiovisual material.

The technology of TEDIAL that creates and manages media flows (MPM, MEDIA PROCESS MANAGER) also automates interchanges of media and metadata between editorial office and digital archive. MPM imports from iNews, associated-to-news texts and pre-cataloguing (locator and complementary metadata existing in Interplay). That is how TEDIAL technology contributes to improve productivity in TELESUR, taking advantage of all documentation work done at editorial office.

Apart from being integrated in editorial office and programmes, TEDIAL´s content manager, is integrated with automation system (Pebble Beach), broadcasting system (Omneon video servers) and the tape library. The result is the automation of digitizing historical archive, automatic processing of ingesting and broadcasting sketch, and automatic uploading of broadcasting servers, notifying every process to automation system.

The integration of TEDIAL in TELESUR, makes digital archive and editorial office a production unity, where the editor can incorporate material to the project, by a simply drag&drop operation between the consult client, TARSYS, and the selected window at the editor.

TEDIAL has optimized the storage in TELESUR including AST as part of the solution, allowing partial recovering of video fragments. AST, HSM system (Hierarchical Storage Manager) of TEDIAL, applies intelligent policy to automatic migration of discs-tape library, and makes possible a dynamic swinging of flows that get in & out to storage system, maximizing the available bandwidth.

TELESUR (Televisión del Sur – Southern Television) is a TV channel with public financing that broadcasts for Latin America, in Spanish, 24 hour a day, by satellite and for Venezuela, by open signal. TELESUR is also seen at Europe by the Internet and satellites, ASTRA and HOTBIRD. This channel was born on July, 24th of 2005, in order to push up communicational integration processes between Latin American countries and to provide updated information about Latin American region to the rest of the world. The ownership of the channel is shared by a few countries (Venezuela, Cuba, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Bolivia) with regard to finances and contents. TELESUR, the new southern television, with main base in Venezuela, rises from the obvious need, in Latin America, of having means allowing every fellow citizen of this vast region, to propagate their own values, and image; to debate their own ideas, and to broadcast, freely and equally, their own contents.
