Final Cut Pro
Tedial provides tight integration of Final Cut Pro into broadcast workflows.
With Apple Final Cut Pro now an increasingly popular choice for professional editing in broadcast, workflow and asset management specialist Tedial has added tight integration, allowing editors to work with both high resolution video and proxy copies, accessing the Tedial environment from within Final Cut Pro.
This new application is accessible from the main menu of Final Cut Pro. It allows the editor to import media from the archive, export to multiple targets and switch projects between low and high resolution. All this is achieved in a simple user interface which will be intuitive to editors.
The import option launches the Tedial archive client which can be used to retrieve clips or EDLs. To minimise the time before work can start, a low resolution version of the media is transferred at first, rather than wait for high definition video to be moved across the network. As soon as the edit is complete the operator automatically switches the sequence to its full resolution version: just the required content is transferred and the edit is swiftly conformed.
Once the edit is complete the final sequence can be sent to different destinations, such as the playout server, other parts of the workflow for compliance checking, or the archive. Where different resolution versions are required, the Tedial system automatically conforms for each before transferring them along with the associated metadata.
With well over a million licenses in use, Final Cut Pro is a major force in broadcast editing,” said Emilio Lopez Zapata, CTO of Tedial. “We have developed Mac-native applications to make it a part of our integrated applications. While many solutions allow Final Cut Pro to access content on an archive, only Tedial has made it a real part of an integrated system.”
Because the Final Cut Pro applications are a part of the Tedial toolset, they are fully customisable in both the data model and the user interface. They work with both the Tedial Media Process Manager and LDAP-based user management, guaranteeing the integrity and security of the workflow, a critical aspect of the broadcast environment.
The new Final Cut Pro integration will be demonstrated along with the rest of the Tedial workflow and asset management solution on booth SU 6921 at NAB2009, April 20 – 23 in Las Vegas.
