Product Overview

Capture is an acquisition tool which takes audio and video material from any source and converts the content to a selected digital format. It is a highly configurable ingest tool that provides full control of a wide range of video and radio devices such as video/audio servers, VTRs, Flexicarts, XDCam players, eVTRs, VHS/DVD players, routers, capture cards and software-based ingest devices like AmberFin to name but a few.
Capture has been designed to be an integral part of media acquisition workflows, providing a single common tool to perform ingest and to simplify and automate the digitalisation process as much as possible.
The tight integration to Tedial’s MPM and Tarsys MAM systems enables media workflows to be automatically built to process and deliver the newly ingested media. Depending on the type of recording, workflows may include automatic QC and archival, creation of TX master copies, generation of low-resolution proxies and storyboards, speech to text, OCR for subtitle/caption extraction, etc. Metadata and tape information can be imported directly from traffic and/or Tedial’s Tarsys MAM database. Operators may also enter metadata manually at any time.
Capture supports automatic batch-ingest and importing ingest dub-lists from either traffic or from Tedial’s Ficus BPM, allowing different segments from the same tape to be recorded as separate files. Capture can be configured to control multiple streams simultaneously by performing several ingest jobs in parallel.
Capture can import the original timecode directly from the original tapes and can handle discontinuous timecode. Ingest can be defined by timecode In and Out or by timecode/manual start plus duration.
The Live Capture mode allows media logging while ingest is still taking place. This application includes a browse player window to assist the live cataloguing. Operators can also create segments in realtime during the ingest of live feeds for their immediate distribution. Workflows can be defined to deliver the segments to any destination simultaneously while ingest is still ongoing and without having to archive and catalogue the segments first.
A planning tool is available for automatic scheduled ingest of multiple live feeds with router control. It automates the ingest process and provides a planning system to determine whether there are clashes and distribute the tasks amongst the resources available.
Capture has an Outgest mode to export media already digitised back to video tape.
