2022 Sculpting Change and Agile Business

To begin this first blog of 2022, we would like to wish all our industry colleagues and friends a very happy, safe and prosperous New Year. Given everything that’s happened in the world over the past two years it feels like the ideal time to reflect. In January 2020 (almost to the day), we published our New Year blog titled Flying houses and robot butlers?… Bring on 2020 (or perhaps not!). In that blog we discussed how, growing up, the year 2020 always seemed to have had an air of science-fiction about it. We also highlighted our technical visions and plans for the year ahead. None of us had any idea what would happen just a few short weeks after that blog was written and published.

What’s interesting is, that despite the huge hardships and sacrifices that many, many people have endured both personally and professionally, the past two years have seen technology in the media industry, and many other industries worldwide, increase at an astonishing rate. For instance, when we wrote that blog in 2020, we couldn’t have imagined how quickly remote working would become commonplace. Although brought about in very trying circumstances, this adaptability to change has reinvigorated the industry and has shown how quickly we can evolve technology to meet fast changing requirements.

So (dare we ask) what’s next?  Gartner’s E-Book “Top Technology Trends for 2022” explains that “Digital business requires a resilient and efficient IT foundation at its core. Without a well-designed base, there is no way to scale cost-efficiently.” Tedial’s philosophy sits at the very heart of this statement. The company was founded in 2001 to bring greater business agility and value to media companies with innovative, scalable, and effective media solutions that optimize their media supply chain and management operations. We do this by identifying needs and providing services that efficiently and cost-effectively allow them to meet operational requirements and business objectives, improve customer experience and remain ahead of the competition.

The Gartner Report also highlights the growing trend for cloud-native platforms, “By 2025, cloud-native platforms will serve as the foundation for more than 95 percent of new digital initiatives — up from less than 40 percent in 2021.” We absolutely agree, in fact our CTO Julián Fernández-Campón wrote an article for TVB Europe, which was published in July last year, explaining why it’s time to embrace cloud-native platforms and microservices. Tedial’s view is that cloud native software should be designed and built entirely according to the principals of service orientated architecture, with each new generation of technology enabling more abstraction and leverage on past achievements.

This is also on a par with Tedial’s technological shift to a new generation of media integration platform in the hybrid cloud, or NoCode iPaaS for Media, which is instrumental to a microservices approach. So, what’s the key to success for media companies moving forward?  At Tedial, we believe that it’s essential to replace monolithic systems, or multiple integrated applications, which have complex point-to-point integration, with a platform that integrates all the components and complexity of the workflows, using all the APIs and additional methods required, to read older systems. This new approach sees all the applications integrated within the platform, which means that a change in one system will only impact in the plug-in with the platform, and not in the rest of the systems that are part of the same workflow. This is important because it means that every individual system doesn’t need to be aware of what systems produced the results during the previous steps of the workflow. For example, triggering AI tools to analyze or read content will be normalized into the platform’s standard data model. The MAM of yesterday is the Media Integration Platform of today. To find out more read our newly published White Paper.

It is clear that a NoCode Media Integration Platform will transform the way people work together. At the start of the pandemic, as work-from-home orders spread throughout countries across the world, cracks appeared in traditional working methods and NoCode adoption accelerated. M&E companies quickly turned to vendors to provide tools and solutions that could overcome remote working challenges.

The Gartner report also highlights the importance of sculpting change and the ability to provide technology that allows organizations to scale their digitalization efforts, again we absolutely agree. “But IT cannot match the pace of change alone. Fusion teams — made up of IT and business staff — will collaborate and drive innovation to rapidly digitize the business. Its job is to provide the tools to allow fusion teams to sculpt the change.”

The No-Code Media Integration Platform provides a solution for M&E organisations. Thanks to Media Integration Platform technology, media companies no longer have to start from scratch or wait for IT to build, upgrade or enable the digital transformation of legacy applications.  It allows both “technical” and “business” users to create any type of process, from simple to complex, without writing code. With a No code Media Integration Platform-based solution, technology development becomes more agile, collaborative, dynamic and responsive to customer needs. This enables solution development to be democratized, empowering the citizen developer and accelerating innovation. By combining different skills, “technical” and “business” users, break down functional silos and hierarchies and help drive innovation and business agility.

Although the threat of COVID-19 still looms large, we continue to feel optimistic for the year ahead. All being well, we are planning to exhibit at NAB 2022 on booth C3036 where we will showcase technology that continues this narrative. Whatever your plans for the year we wish you all the very best and we look forward to seeing you in-person (everything crossed) later in the year.
