BT Sport: How to create a sophisticated sports media production environment

With a total attendance figure of 56,390, IBC 2019 welcomed a record number of attendees with the number of under 35s increasing by 10% year-on-year. This coupled with a rise in C-level attendees, IBC 2019 demonstrated the show’s relevance and vital role at the heart of our industry.

At Tedial, we had a very fruitful show with an increased number of visitors coming from all around the world. The team was very busy, showcasing to existing and potentially new customers the latest efficiency enhancements to our award-winning content management solutions for sports production and content distribution. What was interesting about the on booth and show discussions was the emphasize on the creation and distribution of more content across multiple platforms in multiple territories for viewer engagement and content monetization. The common theme was how to achieve this in a smart, efficient and cost-saving way without compromising both quality and future proofing. Our Version Factory and other delivery solutions created a lot of interest to satisfy these business requirements.

One Tedial’s major highlight was a joint presentation titled BT Sport: How to create a sophisticated sports media production environment delivered by BT Sport’s Chief Engineer, Andy Beale and Timeline Television’s Head of Studios and Post-Production Simon Littler with Tedial’s VP Products Jerome Wauthoz, at the IABM Future Trends  Theatre.  Andy Beale and Simon Littler talked about the challenges encountered and overcome while designing and implementing a future proof, format agnostic MAM (media asset management) and Archive system for BT Sport’s production facility located at its Stratford and BT Tower facilities in London. They explained how the production environment, managed by Timeline Television, integrated the Tedial Evolution MAM system to manage and orchestrate seamlessly all media processing and archiving workflows, resulting in  real added value to production and providing new operation opportunities.  Jerome Wauthoz described how new technologies such as AI, are leveraged with existing technologies for optimal results.

If you did not make the trip to Amsterdam or could not attend the presentation, no worries, you have a chance to watch the video now!
